Scope places Fnac Darty’s ratings under review for a possible downgrade following methodology update
The latest information on the rating, including rating reports and related methodologies, is available on this LINK.
Rating action
Scope Ratings GmbH (Scope) has placed the BBB issuer rating of Fnac Darty SA (Fnac Darty) under review for a possible downgrade. Scope has also placed the BBB senior unsecured debt rating under review for a possible downgrade, while the S-2 short term debt rating remains unchanged.
The full list of rating actions and rated entities is at the end of this rating action release.
Rating Rationale
The rating action follows the publication of Scope’s updated Retail and Wholesale Rating Methodology on 25 June 20251. The updated methodology has introduced new elements in the assessment of an issuer’s financial risk profile, which may impact the final issuer rating.
The updated methodology introduces a new ratio: Scope-adjusted interest and lease amortisation cover*. This replaces the interest cover metric for the assessment of issuers with more than two-thirds of their real estate assets leased. The application of the new ratio for Fnac Darty might result in a lower assessment of the financial risk profile (currently at BBB), and consequently a downgrade of the issuer rating and the senior unsecured debt rating. At the same time, Scope sees limited pressure on the S-2 short-term debt rating, which remains unchanged.
The rating review will be resolved within six months at the latest, once Scope has received all the information necessary to do so.
