Italian NPL collections: January volumes tracking below three-year average

Italian NPL collections fell 62% in January 2025 month-on-month, tracking the same trend observed between December 2023 and January 2024 (-60%).

January 2025 collections were also 26% below the January average of the previous three years. But while last month’s judicial collections were 14% lower than the three-year average, DPOs and note sales recorded a much more pronounced drop, falling 48% and 90% below the average, respectively.

Meanwhile, judicial proceeds accounted for 81% of last month’s total, the highest share since 2022.
