      Italian NPL collections: 29% decline in DPOs drag down May volumes

      Italian NPL collections of EUR 208m in May 2024 were 12% up month-on-month but 15% below the May average of the last two years owing to a 29% decline in DPOs.

      In absolute terms, DPOs in May 2024 were EUR 15m below the 2022-2023 average. Judicial proceeds of EUR 6m were 5% higher, while note sales fell by EUR 3m, or 26%. Judicial strategies represented the main contributor in May, accounting for 72% of collections, continuing the stable trend of around 70% since the beginning of year.
